Summer Fires

The temple. Bright colored-saree clad women with their daughters, preparing offerings in earthern pots under summer fires. Corners of their eyes crinkled with the heat from the simmering delicacies.

The nuns in the next berths finish up their dinners. Their grey uniforms merge with the bluish seats of the train.

How do kids remember a childhood? Counting the bunnies on the air pillow with papa? Waving at trains running through the slums that is their home?

Let us give them little words of love to carry through the days.
